3 Chenette: Continued work on Animals unit. Moved into paragraph writing. Started with a lecture on the elements of a paragraph. Susan Torres gave a mini-lecture on paragraph writing about why the sea turtle cries. Invited students to revisit their research in order to write more focused paragraphs. 10 unconnected facts don't necessarily make a good paragraph. Also likened a topic sentence to a box or container that informs the reader about the contents of the box which are the facts. If the topic sentence is too small, the facts won't all fit in the box. The closing sentence is like a bow that wraps around the package.
